Why we started
The platform we wished we had.
Toden started as a tool we needed ourselves. We were building financial products at Myaza, an Africa-focused fintech, and kept hitting the same wall: one supplier to check an ID, another to screen the name, a third to watch the transactions, and a spreadsheet to hold the cases together.
Each of those tools was built for a bank with a procurement team. None of them agreed on who the customer was. And the hard part, deciding what to do with all those answers, was still ours.
So we built what we wanted: one record for each customer, one set of rules, one place to investigate. Checks that go to the government record and the passport chip, not just a photo. Monitoring that carries on after the customer is approved.
Toden is now its own company, built on the same idea. Knowing your customer should be a decision you design once, not a pile of integrations you maintain for ever.
